Thanksgiving Cactus in Bloom

I wanted to do a still life of a unique plant and my thanksgiving cactus just happened to be blooming at the right time. I wanted to explore the vibrant flowers but also the strange forms of the cactus' leaves. Another aspect of this painting I wanted to portray is the relationship light and shadow have over the cactus.
